El Presidente Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Por Larrañaga Cabinet humidor 1931 - 1961 You don't see these come along every day and I have no idea as to the authenticity of the cigars. I would love the thoughts of our FOH investigative brigade and members in general 4

I can't believe this guy is still freely allowed to sell on that platform, since the moderators themselves know he's a fraudster.......sad times.

"So were the cigars vac packed when the cabinet was found by the sewer outflow?, or did you add them after... to seal in the funk?" 1
El Presidente Posted August 19, 2020 Author Posted August 19, 2020 I think it would be fair to say that the chances of purchasing a legitimate Cuba made pre - embargo box of cigars online would put close to zero.
NSXCIGAR Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Hmm. This strikes me as very suspicious. Obviously, the condition of the exterior wood is very rough. But the cab looks like a very basic build with fairly low quality wood. Anyone could make that in a garage. The warranty seal placed on a cab like that and in the middle over the two doors just strikes me as odd. And no model info And finally, the manufacturing stamp is highly unusual. Beyond highly unusual actually, particularly for a top brand like PL. And to top it off, those cigars look like petrified cat turds.

Ryan Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 The box looks real. The cigars I don't know. It is exactly the same shape and size as one in Fox Dublin from the late '40s. Except theirs is stamped "For Eire" on the side. Inside are 50 cigars, 2 bundles of 25 petit coronas. Ribbons surround the bundles with the name "Por Larrañaga - Souvenir Royal No. 1". I would imagine there could be all kinds of names on the ribbons in different humidors for different clients. Back then retailers or even clients came up with their own names if they had the right relationship with the cigar factory. I don't have pictures of that one handy, but I think there are some on the web. @nino might have pictures from his visit here. Fox have another similar-age cabinet of 100. I have pictures of that. Again Por Larrañaga, but now "Fox Selection 119". 119 being the street address of the shop in Dublin. I have pictures of that below. Those cigars look well. When JJ Fox had replica humidors made in Cuba by Humidores Habana for the 135th anniversary in 2016, they used the Por Larrañaga 50 cab as the template for the new ones. Images below. 4

Ok, so there's some confirmation that these existed. So it probably is real, and the manufacturing stamp being so odd I would say points to an older release. Of course the cigars, who knows.
